Mission statement: UNPAINTED - digital art in times of pandemic
Topic: Discussion with Benedict and Irmin Rodenstock, founders of UNPAINTED, on the future of digital art
Reporting: art magazine PARNASS Kunstherbst 2019
It was their idea to found UNPAINTED in 2013, an international platform for the mediation of digital art, which organized exhibitions and, above all, the first trade fair for media art. "We wanted to pay more attention to digital art as the most contemporary art and present it to collectors and art lovers in the digital age as a matter of course with a trade fair format," explains Rodenstock. “Unlike at commercial art fairs, not only art galleries are allowed at UNPAINTED, but also artists without a gallery connection - and online too”. In February 2016, shortly before the opening of their second media art fair, both were guests at Munich Speech®. The company has now been expanded into a platform with a blog, advisory and an online art store.
Now Dietlinde Behncke asks: how is UNPAINTED developing right now, in times of "social distance"?
